SCHOLARSHIP OPPORTUNITIES

C.A.R.E. (COMMUNITY ACCESS TO RECREATION FOR EVERYONE) SCHOLARSHIP

The Glencoe Park District is committed to providing recreation services to all residents who wish to participate in Park District services. The Glencoe Park District has established a financial assistance program to assist residents of the District, on a limited basis, who are experiencing financial hardship. Based on the availability of funds, the Park District will attempt to provide financial assistance to those who qualify, i.e., if they meet the eligibility requirements. The Park District reserves the right to approve full or partial assistance, or deny an applicant's request.

Guidelines

  • The family or individual must reside within the boundaries of the Glencoe Park District and must provide both a driver's license and current utility bill as proof of residency.
  • Please note than an application may take up to two weeks for approval. As such, your application should be submitted one month before registering for programs you may wish to participate in.
  • If you are reapplying for scholarship, applications will not be accepted six weeks before the current expiration date.
  • Any new scholarship cannot be used until the current scholarship year expires.
  • Any changes to financial status must be reported promptly by the applicant to Family Service of Glencoe, i.e., if the changes will impact your status, percentage allowed, etc.

How To Apply

Step One: Get scholarship application packets

Step Two: Submit the scholarship application

  • Submit to Family Services of Glencoe (675 Village Ct | Glencoe, IL 60022)

Step Three: Family Services of Glencoe will review the application and determine eligibility. 

Step Four: If approved, Family Services of Glencoe will reach out to the Glencoe Park District to confirm eligibility and the percentage covered (i.e. 90%, 75%, 50%, 25%, etc.)

Step Five: Upon approval from Family Services of Glencoe, someone from the registration team at Glencoe Park District will email you confirmation of eligibility.

Scholarship Funding and Usage

Scholarship used towards Enrichments, Adult Programming, Events and Passes:*
  • Adult Individual and/or Family with one Child: Each approved family will receive financial assistance up to $2,250 annual Maximum
  • Family with two or more children: Each approved family will receive financial assistance up to $3,375 annual Maximum 

*Scholarship can be used towards Non-Contractual and Contractual programs. The amount available to use towards a program depends on whether you sign up for Non-Contractual or Contractual programs. For more details, please reach out at [email protected] or call 847-835-3030.

Scholarship used towards Children’s Circle or Kid’s Club:
  • Adult Individual and/or Family with one Child: Each approved family will receive financial assistance up to $4,500 annual Maximum
  • Family with two or more children: Each approved family will receive financial assistance up to $6,750 annual Maximum

Amounts cannot be combined. Households with one or more children attending Children’s Circle and/or Kid’s Club cannot receive additional financial assistance towards other programming, events or passes with the exception of summer camps if scholarship remains. 

How To Register

  • Households that receive scholarship must register in person.
  • For resident registration days, you can submit a form in advance. The registration team will enter the registration as time permits. There are no guarantees of spots since the registration team enter the forms first come, first serve and as time permits.
  • You can also stop by the registration desk to register in person.
  • Reach out to the registration department at 847-835-3030 or [email protected] at least a week prior to the first day of registration in order to confirm the eligibility of the program you’re interested in.

 New Trier Township Financial Assistance 
  • New Trier Township offers additional financial assistance for Daycare, Kids Club and Camp.
  • You must reside in New Trier Township to be eligible.
  • There are deadlines and different guidelines for requesting financial assistance from New Trier Township.
  • For information regarding financial assistance for Preschool, Before/After School programs and Camps, please reach out to the Social Services Administrator at (847) 446-8201.
  • You can combine New Trier financial assistance with Glencoe Park District scholarship.

  • All amounts covered and owed are based on the applicant’s eligibility which is approved by Family Services of Glencoe, in combination with the annual maximum provided.
  • All information submitted is confidential and is not a matter of public record of the Glencoe Park District or Family Service of Glencoe.
  • All information on the application must be true and accurate. All financial assistance awards are legally recoverable by the Glencoe Park District if paid and awarded on the basis of false information supplied by the applicant, and will nullify your request for financial assistance.
  • All registration policies and procedures apply to financial assistance applicants.
  • All financial assistance shall be awarded solely based upon the individual need of the applicant without regard to race, color, gender, religion or sex.
  • A child may only be claimed on one application per year and a new application must be submitted annually.
