SIX New Pickleball Courts at Watts

Friday, May 5, 2023

Six new pickleball courts are now available at Watts Center, giving local pickleball enthusiasts a dedicated space to play and practice. With a distinctive sports court surface designed specifically for the game, the courts are expected to be a hub of activity for pickleball players of all skill levels. The courts will be available daily, from 7 AM to 8 PM, through October 31. During the winter months, the rink will still be used for ice skating activities.

Pickleball is a popular racket sport that combines elements of tennis, badminton, and table tennis. It is played on a court that is smaller than a tennis court, with a low net and wooden paddles. The game is easy to learn and can be enjoyed by people of all ages and abilities. Summer classes for adults and youth are available through the Glencoe Park District.

To ensure that all players have an opportunity to play, court usage is limited to one game if other players are waiting. Priority is given to Glencoe Park District and school district programs, followed by advanced reservation play/permitted lessons, and finally open/drop-in play.

It is important to note that these courts are for pickleball use only. All other games/activities are prohibited, including alcohol, smoking, glass containers, biking, skating, and all other sports activities. Pets are not allowed on the courts, and users must abide by the Glencoe Park District Conduct Ordinance 700.

Residents who are interested in private lessons on the courts must obtain a permit by calling (847) 835-3030.

The installation of these new pickleball courts is an exciting addition to the community and is expected to attract even more players to the sport. With its friendly and welcoming atmosphere, Watts Center is a great place to play pickleball and enjoy the outdoors!
