Goats at Work

Tuesday, April 16, 2024

As part of our ongoing efforts to maintain the beauty and ecological balance of Milton Park, the Glencoe Park District will be utilizing goats as a natural means to clear invasive species from the area. This environmentally friendly approach avoids the use of chemical herbicides and provides a sustainable solution to managing invasive vegetation.

The goats will be present at Milton Park for approximately one week, during which time they will graze on the invasive plant species. They are scheduled to arrive on Monday, May 6, and leave by Friday, May 10 (weather permitting).

To ensure the safety and security of both the goats and the public, we have implemented comprehensive security measures. The goats will be fenced off from public access and park staff will patrol the area regularly.

It's important to note that goats are naturally quiet animals and should not cause any disturbance to nearby residents. Their presence will likely be quite an interesting sight for passersby.
