Lakefront Parking Task Force

The Glencoe Park District and the Village of Glencoe have established a joint task force to conduct a comprehensive review of parking areas surrounding Lakefront Park and Beach.  The task force will also review parking-related changes implemented by the Village for the 2026 season and assess their effectiveness.

In addition, the task force will consider pedestrian safety along the beach access drive and determine whether any additional measures should be considered. The task force will receive information on current parking conditions, usage patterns, and operational considerations. The group will evaluate potential options, consider the impacts of any proposed changes on residents and beach users, and seek to balance access, safety, neighborhood impacts, and community needs.

This will be a short-term task force that will conclude its work no later than January 2027. Any recommendations developed by the task force will be advisory in nature and presented to the respective Boards for consideration. The Village Board retains final authority over any parking-related changes within the Village. The Park District retains final authority over any beach operations changes. Any recommendations regarding modifications to the beach access drive will be subject to review and approval by both the Village Board and the Park District Board.
