West Park Community Input Meeting (at Weinberg Family Recreation Center) - (8/15/24)
Time: 6:00 PM
Location: Weinberg Family Recreation Center
Age: All Ages
Price: Free
Due to inclement weather, the meeting will be held at Weinberg Family Recreation Center (305 Randolph St).
In 2021, the Glencoe Park District sought community input for the approved master plan of West Park. The plan aimed to enhance the athletic fields, tennis courts, and drainage systems, while also introducing new pickleball courts, a picnic shelter, rain gardens, and other amenities. To secure funding for the project, it was submitted to the State of Illinois Department of Natural Resources (IDNR) for an Open Space Land Acquisition and Development (OSLAD) grant during the 2022 and 2023 grant cycles. Unfortunately, the project was not selected for funding.
However, after careful consideration, the Glencoe Park District has revised the plans for West Park and is planning to reapply for the OSLAD grant in 2025. The revisions primarily focus on removing invasive buckthorn along the northern property line.
To gather feedback on the updated plans, residents are encouraged to attend a Community Input Meeting on Thursday, August 15 at 6 PM. The meeting will occur at Weinberg Family Recreation Center (previously Watts). This is a great opportunity for the community to have a voice in shaping the future of this park. Your input is valuable and we look forward to hearing your thoughts at the meeting.
If you cannot attend the meeting but want to provide feedback, please send your thoughts to [email protected].
