Earth Day Clean-up - (4/22/25)
Time: 3:30 PM
Location: Glencoe Beach
Activity Number: 120880
Age: All Ages Welcome
Price: Free
Join us in celebrating Earth Day with a special series of activities in partnership with our wonderful community allies. Our big event is a beach cleanup at Glencoe Beach, kicking off at 3:30 PM. We’ll provide garbage pickers to help you collect litter, and we'll keep track of the waste collected. Last year, our amazing volunteers removed roughly 62 pounds of debris—let’s aim to surpass that this year!
In addition to the cleanup, you'll have the chance to connect with environmental experts from organizations such as Friends of the Green Bay Trail, the Glencoe Sustainability Task Force, and Pizzo Habitat Restoration. It's a perfect opportunity to learn more about our environment!
We're also thrilled to give away 50 native oak sapling trees, thanks to the generosity of the Metropolitan Water Reclamation District of Greater Chicago's Restore the Canopy Program. The Glencoe Park District team will be on hand to offer guidance on planting and caring for these saplings.
Then, at 4 PM, please join us at Lakefront Park, where we'll plant several new trees. It's an excellent chance to see tree replacement efforts up close, watch the exciting process of new growth, and, for the younger ones, see heavy machinery in action!
