Child Care for Essential Workers Expansion and Summer Camp Update
The Glencoe Park District, like all of you, is waiting for an update to the State of Illinois’ extended Stay-at-Home Order. While we know Illinois is currently in Phase 2 of Restore Illinois, Governor Pritzker’s five-step plan, it is very uncertain what happens after June 1 and further into summer when our region will hopefully advance to Phase 3.

While we wait, our staff is working incredibly hard to come up with plans that balance safe and practical solutions with the needs of Glencoe residents who depend on our childcare, facilities, and camps.

In the past week, we made significant progress to map out what summer in Glencoe will look like. We’ve made decisions and outlined protocols to expand our child care program for essential workers, use of our tennis courts, operations at Glencoe Beach, and canceled some of our special events. Unfortunately, we are still dependent on directives from the State of Illinois on how and when to move forward with plans for our parks, facilities, and especially our camps.

Below is an update on Glencoe Park District’s child care and camp.

Increased Child Care for Essential Workers

Glencoe Park District’s Emergency Child Care license from DCFS to help provide care for children of essential workers in our area has been expanded. As of June 1, our facilities will be able to take in additional children ages 6 weeks to 12-years-old. Our play-based learning program is available Monday-Friday from 7 AM-6:30 PM.

Please contact Early Childhood Manager Jessica Stockl at to discuss enrollment.

Summer Camp

We understand that residents need to find out as soon as possible how and if the Park District will be able to operate our summer camps. While we still do not know what the future will hold in the coming weeks, we do know camp will look very different than what we originally planned.

On Wednesday, May 20, we will announce details about our camps and modifications made to follow State and CDC guidelines.

We also want to reassure you that if you are currently signed up for camp and do not wish to attend camp once the new program is announced, you will be given the opportunity to get a full refund.

Please know, the Glencoe Park District is making decisions based on the safety of our community and staff, our responsibility to our taxpayers, and local and state-wide orders.

Thank you for your patience and understanding as we navigate this new COVID-19 world. Please continue to look for updates from us via email, social media, and on the home page of our website
