Our basketball courts are now open, but players will need to follow guidelines: 

• ⁠Team play is not permitted. Practice your shooting, dribbling, and ball-handling skills.⁠

• Focus on individual skill building vs. competition.⁠

• Social distance when possible.⁠

• Group play should be limited to members of the same household. ⁠

• Sharing equipment is not recommended.⁠

• Please exercise good decision-making. If organized group play takes place, courts may be closed.⁠

As Illinois moves into Phase 3 of its Restore Illinois plan, the Glencoe Park District will open up additional park amenities beginning this Saturday, May 30. All Park District tennis courts will open and disc golf can resume, with accommodations made for social distancing. Pickleball can also be played on tennis courts at Watts and Shelton.

Due to an overwhelming response from the community, season passes for Glencoe Beach have sold out. Season pass sales were implemented as part of our summer safety protocols to manage overcrowding at the beach and support social distancing requirements. Additionally, we hope to prevent our season pass holders from waiting in long lines for admission to the beach.

We have created a wait list and may authorize the sale of additional passes in the future as state-wide regulations ease. 

The Glencoe Park District, like all of you, is waiting for an update to the State of Illinois’ extended Stay-at-Home Order. While we know Illinois is currently in Phase 2 of Restore Illinois, Governor Pritzker’s five-step plan, it is very uncertain what happens after June 1 and further into summer when our region will hopefully advance to Phase 3. 

While we wait, our staff is working incredibly hard to come up with plans that balance safe and practical solutions with the needs of Glencoe residents who depend on our childcare, facilities, and camps. 

Last week, the Park District Board of Commissioners made key decisions to preserve access to the Glencoe beach this summer, with extra safety stipulations put in place due to COVID-19.
