Winter Spring Program GuideGlencoe Park District's Winter Program Guide is now available! The guide features information on winter programs, special events, and summer camps. Resident registration for camps and winter programs will start online at 7 am on in-person at 8 am on Wednesday, December 17.

Moody’s Upgrades Park District Credit Rating

Moody’s Upgrades Glencoe Park District Underlying GO to Aa1 from Aa2

 Moody’s Investors Service has upgraded Glencoe Park District’s general obligation (GO) rating to Aa1 from Aa2. The Aa1 applies to $10.8 million of outstanding general obligation unlimited tax (GOULT) debt, which is ultimately secured by a property tax pledge that is unlimited by rate or amount.

Our Skating Director, Toni Cantagallo, supervises the programs, which include Ice Skating Institute classes, Minor Hawk Hockey, and beginning skating classes for tots. From figure skating and ice hockey to special events and outdoor activities, Watts Ice Center is the place for winter fun!

Winter in Glencoe means one thing: skating! Watts Ice Center’s two outdoor ice-skating rinks open the day after
Thanksgiving and stay open through March 1, weather permitting. Public skate takes place Monday–Friday from 1:30 p.m. to 5:15 p.m. and Saturday–Sunday from 1:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m.

The Board of Commissioners adopted a new vision, mission, and values statement for the Glencoe Park District. It is the heart behind the forthcoming Master Plan, and will be used to guide important decisions as the Park District plans for the future.

The Glencoe Caucus is looking for individuals interested in serving on the Glencoe Park District Board of Commissioners. The goals of the Caucus are to create a process for the selection of candidates which is open and transparent, representative and participatory; to ensure and preserve the integrity of that process; and to choose candidates who are best suited to meet the governance needs of the Village.

Two Park Board Commissioner seats will be on the April ballot. To apply, complete the application here.

Natalie Steinmetz Competes in Strictly Functional Art Show

Glencoe Park District instructor Natalie Steinmetz competed in the Strictly Functional Pottery National Exhibition in Lancaster, Pennsylvania this month. The 22nd annual exhibition, which runs September 20-November 1, is a national juried competition to select 95-100 quality pieces of functional pottery for this exhibition. It has been held annually since 1993, and is open free of charge to the public for one month. Strictly Functional is recognized as one of the top ceramic exhibitions in the country and considered the best in contemporary American functional ceramics.
